Week 2 freedom of speech

Today in CIS120 I read an article about a blogger from Iran, named Sattar Beheshti, who was arrested and killed for voicing his opinion through the internet. "Cyber Police" tracked down Beheshti through posted he made on his Blog. After being detained behind bars he later died from "psychological stress" however, there is proof of physical abuse. In my opinion the men behind this attack were afraid of Beheshti free mind and free speech. He was standing up from his thoughts and publicly voicing them through the mainstream. Iran officials are trying to gain control of the internet and trying to regulate what the citizens can view. Is it not corrupt to filter the lens in which people see the world? Disorting original information for political gain. The internet is a wonderful tool for knowledge and staying up to date on. When someone uses this tool for dark and evil things such as silencing and controlling citizens, people from all around the world can watch the corruption. Putting the evil mastermind on the hotspot they so subtly try to avoid.
